‍Happy New Year!

‍As we bid adieu to 2022, we also say goodbye to one of our products. We sold our last SV-1 voice key unit last month. This is remarkable in a couple of ways.

‍One, it’s been a 21 year run for SV-1. The prototype circuit boards for SV-1 were delivered to our office on that fateful day of September 11, 2001, to the sound of USAF fighter jets roaring in the sky. Production SV-1 units shipped a couple of months later.

‍And two, this is the first Cedrus product to be ever discontinued. All our other hardware products – StimTracker, response pads, and Lumina – are seeing continuous development, but it is the end of the line for SV-1.

‍How Come?

‍Increasingly, “voice key” has become a feature instead of a product:

  • SuperLab offers built-in voice key support in both Mac and Windows versions.
  • StimTracker Quad offers voice key support as a built-in feature.
  • Shhh… don’t tell anyone, but we have a new revision of our RB-x40 response pads coming up that includes voice key support and a beautiful new ergonomic design.

‍For all these reasons, it did not make sense for us to revise SV-1.

‍Update: the RB-x40 replacement mentioned above is Riponda.
