This support note is a guide for current SuperLab 6 (and versions 5 and 4) users who are moving to version 7.
SuperLab 7 is a significant departure from earlier versions:
In earlier versions, a trial consisted of one or more events.
In SuperLab 7, a trial is assigned a trial design. A design can consist of multiple slides. In the X7 edition, a design can even include multiple monitors. You place any number of objects on a slide.
You no longer need the separate Data Viewer program — viewing data is now a built-in feature. Additionally, SuperLab 7 introduces pilot mode, a handy way to separate data that you collect while building your task from real data collected from participants. You can see your data at any time by clicking on the Data tab in the sidebar.
Occasionally, SuperLab will be unable to locate stimuli files that have been moved from their original locations. In version 7, you can locate the missing files at any time by clicking on Stimulus Files in the sidebar.
Additionally, in earlier versions, a missing file meant being unable to run the experiment. SuperLab 7 will still run the experiment and use a placeholder image.
This support note is intended to highlight the most significant changes only. There are lots of other improvements and changes that we think will be obvious as you use SuperLab 7. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
