The Story Is Simple

There was a pandemic, our users were confined at home. “Help”, they said, “our SuperLab licenses are tied up in the university labs.”

So we made SuperLab freely available for a few months to everybody, customers and non-customers alike.

More emails came in. “Now that my experiment is ready”, they said, “how do I collect data? my participants and I are still in lockdown”.

We had a meeting at Cedrus and considered how data can be collected remotely. We designed what we thought would be an ideal user interface, i.e. simple one. We called this design SuperLab Cloud but unfortunately, the design would require developing a server backend and would take at least a year to complete.

Instead, we opted for speed and built SuperLab Remote in less than two months. A true pandemic baby.

But we never forgot about that original design. While the story is short, developing SuperLab Cloud was not. The development took us over two years. Today, we are ready and excited to tell you about it.

How It Works

Simply. To collect data remotely:

  • You choose the duration of the experiment, e.g. 30 days, and publish it. SuperLab gives you back an 8 digit ID.
  • Participants download Task Player, run it, and enter the ID. The experiment gets automatically downloaded and presented. The data is uploaded to the cloud.
  • At the end of 30 days, SuperLab Cloud automatically sends you the collected data.

You can also access the data at any time using Data Viewer.

Pricing

SuperLab Cloud costs $249 per year. You get 5GB (gigabytes) of storage. There is no metering of anything — run as many experiments and as many participants as you want.

Better yet: a SuperLab Cloud subscription includes three delegate accounts. You can provide 1GB of cloud access to up to three students or colleagues. You can also purchase additional delegate accounts at a very reasonable cost.

For SuperLab Remote Users

Your Remote subscription will automatically be converted to a SuperLab Cloud account at no extra cost; your upgraded subscription provides many new benefits:

  • Publishing an experiment with SuperLab Cloud is a lot easier than creating a package with Remote.
  • Cross platform: publish an experiment on either Mac or Windows; participants can run it on either platform. There is no need to create separate Remote packages anymore. Note: you should still test on both platforms to make sure your experiment runs well on both.
  • You can specify when to end an experiment, e.g. after a certain number of days or number of participants.
  • You can specify which participant group Task Player should use.
  • Even better: Task Player can counterbalance and pick a participant group using randomization with no replacement.
  • Participant anonymity can now be preserved (because they no longer need to email you the data file).
  • Complete subscription management tools are built into SuperLab.

Subscribe

Whether you want to collect data remotely or even within your computer lab, the friendliness of SuperLab Cloud makes purchasing a subscription an easy decision. Nothing else compares.

If you are a SuperLab Remote user, you do not need to do anything; you will be hearing from us.
