What’s New in SuperLab 6

Jun 24, 2020

‍In May, we released SuperLab 6 beta 15. We are expecting only one more beta release that adds support for the forthcoming SuperLab Remote, to be followed shortly by the final SuperLab 6 by the end of July.

‍How to Get SuperLab 6

‍It’s easy. This upgrade is free to all SuperLab 5 users. You do not need a new license key. Simply download SuperLab 6 and enter your email and password.

‍New Features in SuperLab 6

‍New Run-Time Engine

‍This is the part of SuperLab that presents your stimuli with precision and collects responses with equal precision. It’s not a visible feature but it’s the most important one, we think. The timing in SuperLab 6 is now more precise and jitter free. The new run-time engine is now modern and lays a strong foundation for the future.

‍Sublists

‍Stimulus lists can now be divided into sublists, and sublists can even be synchronized to maintain pairing. This feature simplifies the design of existing experiments and allows the design of even more sophisticated experiments. Once a sublist is created, it can be used anywhere in SuperLab where a regular list can be used.

‍Support for SuperLab Remote

‍We recently announced the upcoming SuperLab Remote. SuperLab 6 can build a package that you can distribute to participants anywhere. Feature is coming soon.

‍Microphone Input on Windows

‍You can now use your computer’s built-in microphone as a voice key on Windows (the Mac version of SuperLab already had that feature). Timing precision is about 20ms on both Mac and Windows.

‍Support for Input from StimTracker

‍SuperLab 6 can now accept input from StimTracker Duo or Quad. On the Quad model, this means that you can now use a more precise, hardware-based voice key.

‍Improved Go / No-Go Support

‍SuperLab 4.5 introduced support for the Go / No-Go paradigm, which measures a participant’s capacity not to respond. This is done by setting a time limit. In SuperLab 6, the time limit can now be the duration of a video or audio clip.

‍Redesigned At a Glance Icons

‍We redesigned the “At a Glance” icons found in the Block Editor and Trial Editor to make their function clearer.

‍Support for Light Sensor Input

‍SuperLab 6 adds support for the light sensor input in the RB-x40 response pad models. You can set the threshold from within SuperLab.

‍Preview of Events That Use Lists

‍When previewing an event that you uses, say, a list of pictures, press the space bar to preview the next item in the list. You can preview up to 20.
